Welcome to the Tampa weekend recap blog! I hope your week is going lovely so far. 🙂
First things first, HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY to Vitality Vixens!!! Exactly one year ago (4/22/20) I published my first blog post, and boy does time fly. I started Vitality Vixens because I had been reading health/lifestyle blogs for years and always knew I wanted to create one of my own. I love writing, food, and health & fitness, so I knew it would be a dream to have a blog of my own. When Covid hit in early 2020, amidst the chaos, fear, sadness, and all the other terrible feelings that Covid brought to us, I wanted to find a positive light to focus on. So I decided to start the blog!
Luckily, Mary hopped on board immediately and has been my blogging ~partner in crime~ ever since. Honestly, it’s much more fun & fulfilling to do with a partner, so I’m very happy to have her as my co-writer on here!
We are truly thankful for each and every one of you who has been along for the ride with us. If you have read even one blog post (or watched a YouTube video) – THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts. We wouldn’t still be here today if it wasn’t for all of your support and love.
ANYWAYS, on to the weekend with my parentals in Tampa!
A Weekend For The Books in Tampa!
This was the first time my dad had seen Tampa since we moved here, so I was pumped to have both him & my mom here this time! I think he ended up having the best time out of all of us, out on the town/playing games at the arcade late into the night. 😜 Honestly, my parents can hang way more than me these days. IDK when I got so old?!? I feel like a grandma most days in bed by 11 (at the LATEST.)
Anywho… Of course, we had to go to the beach!
We went to Ben T. Davis Beach, which is little patch of beach along the bridge from Tampa to Clearwater. Apparently it was a “must-see” in Tampa. It was pretty! But honestly, it pretty much looked the same as every other beach in the area (but smaller.)
The next day, we headed to the Tampa Riverwalk to take in some views! We obviously had to take the tram from Ybor to downtown Tampa first. I think they enjoyed the ride! Lol
My mom was shook when she realized that Armature Works (the area we were walking to) was actually only a couple miles from our apartment. We definitely took them along the scenic route. 😂 *By scenic route, I mean we took the tram for ~20 minutes downtown, then walked along the Riverwalk for 1.5-2 miles to go back towards Armature Works.* Worth it, IMO!
Tampa Riverwalk Views
Lots of palm trees & gorgeous views along the Riverwalk!
Armature Works
We fiiiiiiinallyyy made it to Armature Works after an hour walk. We were a little sweaty from the Tampa sun, to say the least (at least I was hehe.)
My mom & dad had an inside joke going where my dad would take pictures pointing at EVERYTHING to mimic my brother, Luke’s photos (from when he came to visit last year.) I wish I had the original photo of Luke to post, but it was too funny! Also, obviously, no smiles allowed.
John’s Pass
Another day they were here, we took them to see John’s Pass in Madeira Beach. It’s this area by the beach with a bunch of shops, restaurants, wineries, etc. So much fun! We stopped by a winery there and I tried their wine slushies. I got a mix of the frosé and frozen margarita! SO tasty & refreshing.
We also tried lots of (unpictured) food & drinks. We had Cubans (they’re a must-have in Ybor), local beer flights, and ate at Seasons 52 for the first time (it was amazing.) Another day, we went to downtown St. Pete to explore as well!
In Conclusion
Overall, the weekend was an incredibly fun time and it was great to see my parents! Living far away, along with the state of the world this past year, has made it really hard to see loved ones. Now that people are getting vaccinated and things are opening back up *safely* again, it’s so good to be able to travel and have family/friends come visit.
To be transparent, Jeremy & I got Covid 2 weeks before my parents came & visited. It was the weekend that Jen & Mary were coming to visit, so it was really sad not to be able to see them. We were so disappointed to have gotten Covid once it finally felt like we could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Florida just opened up for 18+ vaccines the week we found out we had Covid. But we are okay and healthy now, so we’re grateful to be able to say that. Luckily our quarantine period was up by the time my parents got here, so we still got to spend the weekend with them!
We are still planning on getting vaccinated as soon as we get a doctor’s recommendation (I believe it’ll be around 3 months after having Covid, but need to double-check with my PCP.)
Anywho, overall this weekend was incredibly fun and it was a blessing to be healthy & get to see my parents. We’re looking forward to many more visits in the future!
Maybe I’ll even do a vlog recap next time on our YouTube channel… 🤔 I’ve never vlogged a whole weekend before, so that might be fun! We shall see…
