We reviewed the regular Built Bars a while back, so you know we HAD to try out Built Puffs too! These puffy protein bars are coated in white chocolate or dark chocolate and come in a bunch of yummy flavors. We’re trying the Churro, Yellow Chirps, and Banana Cream Pie flavors in this Built Puffs review.
The Built Puffs Review
I’ve eaten so many regular Built Bars at this point that even though they’re delicious, I was starting to get bored of them.

When I saw that Built also had a protein bar called Built Puffs, I was so excited! They have a lot of flavors to choose from and have been expanding the Puffs family quickly, which says a lot about how popular these are.
For this review, I’ll be trying the Churro and Yellow Chirps (limited) flavor. Mary & Jesse tried the Banana flavor too, so I’ll give a synopsis of what they thought here, as well.

Churro
The churro flavor was one of the first full boxes of these I bought.
My first thought when biting into the churro flavored built puff: WOW cinnamon! My second bite: it’s actually pretty good though. Third bite: ok that’s really tasty…
The texture is similar to a marshmallow but chewier. I like it better than the regular protein bars because it’s a nice change of pace (and texture).
The dark chocolate coating is top-notch. It tastes like an actual candy bar (which compared to other protein bar brands is quite impressive).
This flavor overall I’d rate a 7/10. It’s pretty dang tasty and has a strong cinnamon flavor if you like that. It’s not my favorite of these bars, but it’s good.
Yellow Chirps
I’ll start off by saying that I don’t think this flavor is available anymore, which is so upsetting. Because these are probably the tastiest protein bars I’ve ever had.
These have a white chocolate coating, which I love way more in Built Puffs and Built Bars. And with these ones, it has a hint of lemon. They’re also sprinkled with little sugar sprinkles on top and they taste like a dream.
If you like sweet lemon flavor, you’ll absolutely love these.
It seems like they were only around for a limited time around Easter, but if they re-release them, I’m buying 5 boxes. Not even kidding. They’re that good.
These are also mini puffs, which are adorable. They’re like half the size of a normal puff and are more the size of an actual Peep (which I think is what they were going for with the yellow chirps name and flavor).
The lemon flavor is amazing. The white chocolate/lemon coating is amazing. Everything about it is amazing.
They’re smaller though, so if you actually want to get a decent amount of protein, you have to eat a couple of them.
Overall, I’d give this flavor a 10/10. It’s perfection.
Banana Cream Pie
According to Mary and Jesse, the banana cream pie flavor is tasty and fairly subtle. Not too in your face banana.
It has the dark chocolate outer coating, just like the churro flavor (and most of the other flavors).

Final Thoughts on Built Puffs
Random thought, but I wish these bars were more in the shape of chocolate-covered marshmallows. That’s what I expect every time I open one, even though I’ve eaten a bunch (and they’re still in the shape of a protein bar every time.) I expect them to be shaped like a Reese’s egg lol.
Overall, I think these are a great option if you’re looking for something new & fun to switch up your protein bars. Nutritionally, they’re basically identical to the regular Built Bars (besides having less fiber). You can see a full breakdown in the nutrition facts section of our video review.
Personally, I like the texture of the Built Puffs way better than regular protein bars. They’re chewy and yummy, but don’t get stuck in your teeth like the regular bars. They’re a more fluffy texture, which makes it like you’re eating an actual marshmallow (with tasty flavors).

I’d recommend any of the 3 flavors we tried since they were all super yummy. They have other fun flavors as well, like brownie batter (which I just tried recently and is a 10/10), coconut marshmallow, and mint marshmallow. Or they have a mixed box to try out a few different flavors (if you can’t pick just one!)
