Hey everyone! Since the quarantine began, I’ve been trying to keep active by going on daily walks. I’m so lucky to live/work in an area with so much beauty and rich history. I wanted to share a few pictures from my recent walks around town. 🙂
“Ybor City is a historic neighborhood in Tampa, Florida, United States, located just northeast of downtown. It was founded in the 1880s by Vicente Martinez-Ybor and other cigar manufacturers and was populated by thousands of immigrants, mainly from Cuba, Spain, and Italy.
Ybor City was unique in the American South as a successful town almost entirely populated and owned by immigrants. The neighborhood had features unusual among contemporary communities in the south, most notably its multi-ethnic and multi-racial population and their many mutual aid societies. The cigar industry employed thousands of well-paid workers, helping Tampa grow from an economically depressed village to a bustling city in about 20 years and giving it the nickname “Cigar City”.”

Every day on my lunch break, I go on a walk around Ybor. I swear I see something new every time!
These are just a few of the photos I’ve taken the past couple days. There will be many more to come, along with other areas of Tampa! (Once the world starts to open back up and get back to normal)
I have plenty more pictures to show, but don’t want to overwhelm y’all in one post. A part 2 will be coming soon 🙂
[…] more fun area! We’ll be living in Historic Ybor City, which I’ve posted about before (pt. 1 & pt. 2) and I can’t wait to tell you more about it. […]
