I have been telling myself for months that I should be a leggings influencer on Instagram or some other source of social media. I’m sure every girl in the world thinks she is the bomb dot com when it comes to leggings or being the “knower of all” in a certain subject. Maybe that is a basic b instinct. I am proud of my knowledge of many topics, but specifically my knowledge on leggings.
We Bring You… The Leggings Series! – Navigation/NVGTN Leggings Review
I dare admit that I have an abundance of leggings…..probably, oh 50 pairs or so? Give or take? Some might think that it is a huge waste of money, and if you have the basic colors of the same kind or a couple of different kinds, then you’re good to go. But I ain’t no basic b****(hehe). I am a vibrant force that can’t be reckoned with and by golly, if they make me happy while I torture myself to get the gains, then so be it.
So, to introduce a segment that will take a few weeks to finish, and only in the sense that I have a wide variety of different brands of leggings that I wish to share upon you all. I want you guys to have a good idea of the different styles of leggings, bras, joggers, etc out there to choose from. I don’t want you to have to go through the hassle of returns because of lack of information not told to you before you purchased these products. To be clear though, we are in no way making any sort of money off these articles. IF anything, we are helping market the companies to get them more business, which, I believe makes us good stewards of the world.

Introduction – Navigation/NVGTN Leggings Review
First up, our review this week is….Navigation or NVGTN.
NVGTN is run by two people, Ashleigh and Brett, who want you to feel empowered and confident when wearing their leggings. They are about wanting you to find your best potential self and bettering those around you. They are strive for a place of equality so no one is left out or alone and everyone is treated as a family. Along with clothing, they also sell supplements to assist with your health needs.
There has been a lot of hype that comes with this brand. A lot of it is true and some of it isn’t. I know, that was very vague….but let me just tell you my honest, nitty gritty opinion. Let’s dive in….
NVGTN Review
I bought the slate blue curve and lilac seamless leggings and the black trio bra. Immediately after opening the leggings packages I noticed the texture. They are exquisitely soft. The buttery smooth kind of soft. Then I noticed the colors, which are just as they seem featured on the site: vibrant and soft-toned. Feeling it with my hands, the thickness was about a 4 on the leggings scale (Yeah, I made that up, but 1 being very thin and 10 being “SHE THIC”). I pulled them a bit and they are very elastic. When I stuck my hand through a pant leg, I didn’t see my fingers through the fabric.
I put them on and they are COMFY AF guys. They make you feel like you aren’t wearing any sort of legging at all and somehow make you feel weightless. In the slate blue, I ordered a Medium and I got to say, they are actually a bit big on me. Now, I typically wear a medium in most pants, except jeans I wear a large. So for me to say that I could definitely size down in these, is incredible. The lilac seamless, I ordered a large because seamless leggings tend to run small, in my opinion. But dang was I wrong. They were hella big and were loose in all the wrong places (aka the crotch).
Were the leggings worth keeping?
Drawing back to the slate blue leggings, I did end up keeping those. But what I have noticed is that they hardly have any seams, which is good and bad. It’s good because they are not uncomfortable in the bum or waistband. But bad because, well, at least for me, they give me a very obvious camel toe. I didn’t notice this off the bat because I was in the honeymoon stage of how good they looked on my body. But as I did an actual workout in them, they ride the heck up and make you have to pull them down. Now I can rock a good camel toe at home, but I also don’t want to rock it in public.
Now, for most ladies out there strutting their stuff at the gym, we want to make sure our outfits aren’t see-through (unless you’re into that, then do you boo). So I made sure to test the leggings I was keeping, for the facts. I videoed myself doing a couple different variations of squats to make sure they are good to go. And these ladies, are squat proof. The leggings also have a contour shadow underneath the bottom to enhance your natural curves baby.
What do they cost?
I’m afraid to say that I don’t know the exact number of how much I paid. I would like to say they were around 60 bucks a pair. On the expensive scale, yes I made this one up too, I would give it a 7 (1 being dirt cheap and 10 being damn near close to 100 bucks a pair). I believe that anything good is going to cost more, but I am not personally going to pay much more than 80 bucks for a good pair of leggings….and that’s even pushing it. I think after a certain value, you are just paying for the brand, which I obviously support, but not for 100 bucks.
The trio bra is one for the books as well. It is also soft in texture and the color is a soft black. The design is very well thought out, so that it accentuates your back and shoulders in all the right places. I think a medium is a little snug, but I just take the pads out (Who needs those anyways) and it fits pretty perfectly. As far as the cost of this bra, I once again can’t remember, but I want to say it was around 35 dollars a pop. To me, that doesn’t seem bad either. A brand that is hyped up as much as this one, you would think it would be pricier than it is. But they are actually pretty dang reasonable compared to other brands.
Summary of the facts:
- Texture – Grade A, very soft, like butter
- Color – Matches the website features
- Thickness – About a 4 out of 10 on the thickness scale
- Elasticity – Very stretchy, tons of breathing room, but not see-through
- Sizing – May run big, I’d suggest to size down
- Camel toe – Can be very evident because of thin fabric and the lack of seams
- Squat proof – 100% squat approved
- Booty gains – Contour shadowing to enhance your rump
- Cost value – The leggings are about the same as other brands, if not a bit cheaper; and the bra is pretty dang inexpensive as well
- Bra – Can run snug, may size up, pretty soft, neat design

Unfortunately, not squat proof and the camel toe is real but they are so super comfy and DO make you feel like you are not wearing anything and light as a feather. I wear them on upper body day when I am not giving everyone a show of my butt crack seen through.

I bought the sunset orange and was so excited to wear them. They are super soft and really made my body look good but they ate absolutely not squat proof. My husband was watching me do squats and could see my whole butt crack through the pants. I’m so upset I wasted money on something I cannot wear to.the gym.
Erin Notz says
Oh no! That’s honestly the worst. And it’s so dependent on color. I almost always go for darker colored leggings/shorts, because you never know with the lighter ones. Any leggings I have that aren’t the most squat proof, I just tie a sweatshirt around my waist so it covers. 🙂
Shannon says
Do you mind if I ask what your waist measurement is? I’m normally a medium too and I hate having leggings too loose on me especially when I’m running. Also can you easily see sweat in the grey leggings l? I wanted to get the grey shorts
Erin Notz says
Not at all! Mary’s is 33 & mine is 27 in. (Mary wrote this review, but we both wear mediums in NVGTN, which fit both body types really well.)
Honestly, you don’t see sweat too badly somehow. Which is shocking. But it’s not completely sweat-proof so if you’re looking for that I’d probably go with a darker color! 🙂
Grayce says
Squat proof? Mine are so see through even when I’m not squatting. I wish someone would’ve told me before I ordered three pairs. The sports bra I got was great, but I can’t say the same for the leggings.
Mary Schrenk says
Hey lady! So sorry you had a bad experience. The pairs I’ve gotten haven’t been light colors & weren’t see-through at all, but I can’t speak on the colors I haven’t bought. In my experience, NVGTN has really easy returns/good customer service, so I’d definitely try reaching out to them about it!
