I’ve been experimenting with different homemade salad dressings lately and this one finally hit the spot! We all know that store-bought dressings can have excess sugar, preservatives, additives, and who knows what else? So I decided to take matters into my own hands and create this delicious balsamic salad dressing!
The Yummiest Balsamic Salad Dressing with Honey & Lemon
Honestly, when I first came up with the idea for this recipe, I thought it could go one of two ways. Either it was be delicious and I would want to use it on every salad I make in the future… Or it would be a complete flop and would taste absolutely terrible.
Luckily, it turned out to be the first option. 🙂 I was surprised by how well all the flavors complimented each other!
I’d never heard of anything like it before. (There may already be similar recipes out there, but if there are I haven’t stumbled upon them!) Honey, lemon, and balsamic are apparently a match made in heaven.
The other great part is that this recipe is incredibly versatile. I made it with a more savory salad, but you can use it on a sweet salad as well! The honey and lemon notes pair great with a fruity strawberry or apple salad.
In the salad I made, I used spinach, white onions, green peppers, Colby Jack cheese, croutons. It was a super easy combination that I just chopped up and threw together in a few minutes!
What You Came For: The Balsamic Salad Dressing Recipe!
The dressing was really easy to make as well. It doesn’t take any special mixing tools or shakers. Just a bowl and a whisk. 🙂
I mixed together 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 3 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp honey, 1/2 a big lemon (squeezed), and then added the spices! Then I threw in 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, and 1/8 tsp of mustard. I just used regular old mustard, but you could use Dijon or honey mustard if you’d like.
The honey and lemon added so much delicious & sweet flavor to the balsamic salad dressing! It wasn’t too sweet by any means, but just the right amount. I’m obsessed and probably going to use this everyday for the rest of the summer. 🙊
If you want to save time with tossing & chopping up your salad… My Mom has been raving about this salad chopper! You use it to chop up your salad base (spinach, lettuce) and veggies to get an amazing chopped salad.
If you’re like me and like to save time in any way possible when it comes to cooking… You should definitely invest in a salad chopper!
Honey Lemon Balsamic Salad Dressing
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp honey
1/2 a big lemon (squeezed)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp of mustard
Whisk together all the ingredients in a small to medium bowl. I saved mine in the fridge for a bit while I got the rest of dinner together. So after bringing it out of the fridge, I whisked it up a big again since it separates.
Add the salad dressing to your salad and toss to combine! You can use this dressing on savory or sweet/fruity salads. It goes well with anything!
This amount of dressing made two big salads for me. If you want to make more or save any for later, you can double the recipe easily.
The dressing saves in the fridge well if you keep it in a sealed container. You could save it in a dressing bottle (if you have one). These ones from Amazon are cute, portable dressing/condiment containers!
Otherwise, an air-tight container works perfectly too.
I hope you guys enjoy the recipe as much as I did! 🙂

My favorite summer recipe is fruit salad. I have been eating veggie burgers and snacking on mango. I have never tried homemade salad dressing, but I think I will prefer it to store-bought.

I love a good fruit salad too! Especially in the hot summer months. I am new to the homemade salad dressing game too, but I like it so much better now. 🙂
