I’ve been leaving the fitness apparel reviews to Mary up ’til now (check out her Gymshark, Balance & NVGTN reviews). But I wanted to ease into it with this Aerie Offline review! Since moving to Florida, I’ve gotten heavily into the bike shorts life. I never thought I’d be here, but hey, people change. They’re just too dang comfy to pass up! So today I’m starting off this review (I’m planning on posting more sections later on) with some Aerie Offline bike shorts & sports bras!
Aerie Offline Review – What is Aerie Offline?
Aerie Offline is Aerie’s new(ish) (released in 2020) activewear line. If you already love Aerie for their comfy leggings, undies, bras, and loungewear, you will definitely be a fan of this collection.
When asked what makes Aerie Offline different from other activewear collections, they stated the below:
“We couldn’t wait to create a well-rounded collection that offers pieces for working out, getting to and from, and all the places in between (even the couch)! We wanted to use our brand to inspire our girl to be the best version of herself through a healthy, balanced, and active lifestyle.” (source)
“OFFLINE really means taking back your time. We’re so connected and we’re always expected to be “ON!” And now, more than ever, it’s important to “go offline” or take a break from school, work, or Instagram. It’s all about taking time for yourself and moving in a way that makes you feel good!” (source)
I love their focus on taking time for YOU & exercising in a way that makes you feel good instead of trying to look a certain way. This completely embodies our mission at Vitality Vixens, so I 100% stand behind brands that are speaking the same health/exercise love language as us.
But… their mission isn’t enough for me to be completely in love with a brand. The clothes have to be high quality, comfy, and look great on my bod as well! Which gets me into the guts of the review…
Aerie Offline Goals Pocket Bike Short (7″)
As far as bike shorts go, these are some of my absolute faves. I love the 7″ length and think it’s the most flattering and comfortable for my body. But they also have a 4″ bike short if you’re wanting a shorter pair, or a 9″ bike short.
These come in gorgeous colors and I have the “turnip the beet” and the gray/white leopard print. I’m not seeing the leopard print on their site anymore which is a real shame because they are SO CUTE. Probably one of my favorite pairs of bike shorts I own. Fingers crossed they bring them back because I would honestly buy another pair just to have an extra for when one is dirty.
They also have 2 side pockets which is a huge WIN. A lot of the bike shorts & leggings I’ve bought in the past just have the pocket in the back, which feels weak like my phone/keys will fall right out. Or they have no pockets (dun, dun, dun) which is just useless! These are the absolute best types of bike short pockets, in my book, and can easily hold both my phone and keys.
I’ll go more into detail about both of the colors below. But I wanted to cover some basics first on the pocket bike shorts.
Texture
These are nice and smooth on the skin, but definitely not the buttery texture of something like Balance Athletica (read our Balance review here). The texture is really nice though and very comfortable. They also do really well in the washing machine and I haven’t noticed any change in texture after many washes.
Pro tip: I make sure to wash all of my workout clothes (especially leggings & bike shorts) only on cold and air dry them. I also put them in these washer bags just to be extra safe and make sure they stay good as new. I mean, if you’re paying good money for workout apparel, you have to treat it right & keep it in pristine condition! My fitness clothes have stayed good as new by washing them this way.
thickness & elasticity
These leggings are fairly thick, squat proof, and definitely don’t show any camel toe. I’ve worn them for distance running, strength training (including leg day), HIIT, and yoga, and they have worked incredibly for all the above. It’s hard to find a good bike short that works for all types of exercise but this is one of the best I’ve found so far.
They’re thick enough that they don’t show sweat anywhere that I’ve noticed (even the booty crack line, which we all know can be problematic). I get really sweaty, especially working out outside, so this is a major plus for me.
The elasticity is great and even though these are more of a compression legging, they still allow enough stretch for your curves. They also fit my bigger waist/thigh to hip ratio, which is a huge plus for me. They don’t gap in the waist, so I appreciate that a lot!
They haven’t stretched out at all so far (after 10+ wears/washes) and they always snap back into place after a wash.
sizing
If you are in between sizes, I would recommend sizing up. I typically am in between a small & a medium and a medium in these fits me well. They’re pretty snug, so even if you aren’t in between sizes, you still may want to size up (depending on how you like your bike shorts and leggings to fit).
I always have worn a medium in Aerie’s leggings, so I expected to be a Medium in these. If you’ve bought Aerie leggings before, I would buy the same size in these.
value for the price
This is honestly one of the highest value for the price bike shorts I’ve found. Comparatively to other fitness brands, I would give these a 5/5 for value. They also have sales constantly so if you don’t need them ASAP and they’re not on sale, wait for a sale.
Even for the full price though, you’re still getting a lot of bang for your buck. I would compare the quality of these to the more expensive fitness brands, so if you’re looking for a less expensive option, give these a try.
Maroon Pocket Bike Shorts (Color: “Turnip the Beet”)
These are such a pretty color & easy to pair with a white, black, or gray sports bra or top. I also just love the name “turnip the beet” – it’s so cute! I wear these with the white sports bra from Aerie that I’m going to review below, so I would definitely recommend buying these items together. They’re a match made in heaven!
I wear these pieces to workout, as well as out & about. They’re so comfy and versatile – the perfect athleisure!! (See below)
Gray/White Leopard Pocket Bike Short
Like I said above, these are one of my favorite bike shorts I own. I was skeptical about the leopard print at first because I wasn’t sure if it would match with much. But these look so good with any single colored top or sports bra. I also love white leopard print in general so these are just too stinkin’ cute!
Sadly, I don’t see them on Aerie’s website anymore. But I’m hoping they will bring them back soon! While we wait, they also have other cute colors like dark gray, fun prints, and plain ol’ black.
Aerie Offline Goals Black 7″ Bike Short
Texture
These ones feel slightly softer (& comfier in my opinion) than the pocket bike shorts above. I find myself reaching for these all the time because 1. they match with anything & 2. they’re incredibly comfy & feel good on the skin.
thickness & elasticity
The regular bike shorts are slightly thinner than the pocket bike shorts, with less compression. They still have enough compression to keep everything in & looking good, but not enough that it’s tight on you. There’s a bit more elasticity in these and room for motion/stretch.
Mine haven’t stretched out at all though & have stayed the same size/fit wash after wash.
sizing
Like I said above, I would size up in these bike shorts. Definitely size up if you’re in between sizes, but you may want to size up even if you aren’t in between sizes. I’m typically between a small and medium (more often wearing a small in bike shorts & leggings) and I’m definitely a medium in these.
If you know what size you typically wear in Aerie leggings, buy that. These are very comparable to their regular leggings when it comes to sizing.
value for the price
Incredible. These are high quality bike shorts that I always find myself reaching for. I’ve been wearing them multiple times a week for months and haven’t seen any stretch or decrease in quality.
Aerie also has sales 24/7 so you’re very likely to be able to score a deal on these.
Aerie Offline Goals Sports Bra
The only sports bra I’ve tested out (so far) from the Offline collection is the Offline Real Me Strappy Back Sports Bra. I bought this in white because I was looking for a new neutral colored sports bra and it did not disappoint!
I will definitely be buying more sports bras from this collection in the future and linked a few other cute ones that I’ve got my eye on.
Texture
This baby is SO SOFT. That buttery, amazing-feeling texture that you never want to take off your body. This is my ideal texture in athletic apparel. The comfier/softer, the better.
thickness & Support
This is a fairly thin bra, but offers medium support, which I love. I have pretty small boobs, so it doesn’t take much to keep ’em in place. AKA I don’t need a high support bra, like ever. If you’re looking for a more supportive option, they have options in this collection as well. But this is perfect for my A, B & C cup ladies!
sizing
Again, if you’re in between sizes, you may want to size up in this one. I’m normally a small and bought a small, and it fits pretty well, but is a little tighter than I’d like. On the next ones I buy, I’m planning on buying a medium.
However, if you like your sports bras to fit snugly, these are true to size. I just like a little more room to breathe in mine, personally.
value for the price
Again, this whole collection is a great value. I got mine on sale (during Black Friday sales) for $20, which is great for a high quality sports bra. I’ll see how it holds up over time, but it has been excellent so far.
The only complaint I have with this bra is that the removable pads look a little funny. They’re shaped smaller/different than most removable bra pads and I’m not a fan. Luckily, you can take them out, so it’s an easy fix. But if you are looking for a padded bra and not okay with removing the pads, this may not be the best option. I may also just be being overly picky… I’ll leave it to y’all to decide for yourselves on the pads!
Aerie Offline in a Nutshell
Honestly, I’ve loved everything I’ve bought from this brand and wear these pieces more often than most of my gym apparel. I would definitely recommend trying them for yourself, but if you like Aerie, you will most likely love Aerie Offline!
Like I mentioned before, they have sales often so I would stray from paying full price for most of their pieces. (Honestly, I paid full price the first time I bought bike shorts from here, but it had just released and I was too excited to wait. Do as I say not as I do lmao.)
I hope you guys end up loving this brand as much as I do!
