We believe that you deserve to know the honest, unfiltered truths about certain health & fitness fads. Today we’re going to be breaking down a popular soda alternative that we’d been seeing all over the dang place – Olipop. I swear, I couldn’t go a minute on Instagram or YouTube without seeing someone talking about these sodas. But when I went to the website and saw that it was $40 for a 12-pack, I was a little shook on how that could be worth it… So Mary & I decided to try out all 6 flavors for y’all (so you don’t have to) and break it down in this full Olipop review!
The Olipop Review
We wanted to hop on here to answer a few initial questions we had about Olipop before buying. So scroll down to see the answers to:
- Is Olipop really healthy?
- Is there caffeine in Olipop?
- Does Olipop make you poop? 💩
If you want to see a breakdown of all 6 flavors (Which ones were good? Which ones sucked?) – watch our full video review below.

Is Olipop really healthy?
Olipop is advertised as a “sparkling tonic” that helps with digestive health. This claim is based on Olipop having prebiotics, 9 grams of fiber, and “botanical extracts” (1).
Personally, I didn’t experience any digestive boost by drinking Olipop. My digestion is already pretty good to begin with, so it could be more beneficial for people with a lower fiber diet.
Each can has under 6 grams of sugar, which compared to typical sodas (ranging from 30-50 grams of sugar) is definitely an improvement.
Personally, I thought most of the flavors tasted pretty good and didn’t taste like artificial sweetener or heavily Stevia induced. I hate the taste of natural sweetener (Stevia, etc.) when it’s overpowering, but I didn’t notice that in most of these flavors.
(To see our full breakdown of each of the flavors, be sure to watch the video above!)
Overall, compared to a regular soda, Olipop is definitely a healthier option. But if you’re craving a nice, carbonated soda beverage, Olipop may not fully satisfy your craving. In both Mary’s & my opinions, the carbonation factor was seriously lacking in these.
Is there caffeine in Olipop?
The only Olipop flavor that contains caffeine is the Vintage Cola, with 50mg of caffeine from green tea (1). This is pretty comparable to other sodas (Diet Coke: 46mg; Dr. Pepper: 41mg; Coke: 34mg) (2).
I was disappointed at first that most of the flavors of Olipop didn’t contain caffeine. However, it made it easier for late evening/night drinking when you don’t want to be caffeinated before bed.
Personally, 50mg of green-tea caffeine doesn’t do much of anything for me. I’m a big coffee and espresso gal, so anything below 100mg doesn’t really do it for me. But if you’re typically a soda or tea drinker, the Vintage Cola could definitely be the right amount for you.
Sadly, neither Mary nor I were big fans of the Vintage Cola flavor. We go into more detail in the video but overall it was pretty lackluster.
Does Olipop make you poop? 💩
LOL. You know I had to throw this one in here because, honestly, it was my first question when I initially saw these sodas.
If you’ve read the reviews of sugar-free Haribo gummy bears, you know that “healthier” alternatives of foods/drinks don’t always go well…
With Olipop, I didn’t see any difference in my digestion or poops. That’s just my experience and as I said above, my digestion is already pretty good, so I didn’t expect this to change much.
However, when I’ve tried other foods/drinks containing artificial or natural (non-sugar) sweeteners, it has negatively impacted my digestion (TMI but going back and forth between constipation & diarrhea.) But most of those options contained sugar alcohols, which could have played a part in my digestive issues.
I’d be curious to hear if other people had a different experience with Olipop on their digestion. So if you’ve tried them and feel comfortable sharing, feel free to comment below.
Olipop Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, neither Mary nor I was thrilled with our Olipop experience. Some of the flavors were pretty dang delicious, but not delicious enough to be worth $3-4 per can. The carbonation was lacking and we would probably never buy these again (unless the price drops drastically.)
I loved that they were a healthier alternative to soda and if you can afford to splurge on these, they’re worth a shot. But in my opinion, they’re a little overpriced to buy on the regular.
If I was going to suggest another healthy soda alternative, I’d recommend Zevia. (I’ve only had the cream soda flavor, which tastes amazing and is perfectly carbonated.)

different taste for everyone but A. I think zevia taste like chemical A#$ (creme soda being the least repulsive) but I have weaned my kid off of soda and all that sugar and the Olipop grape is actually delicious and contains more fiber than he will eat all day. so for me, Id pay $10 bucks per can for that. yes under carbonated, I think on purpose because you can drink the whole can in two drinks 🙂

After trying all flavors, I can say with certainty they took away my sweet tooth at night. I did a 30 day test. I also used them for digestion. I drank one prior to dinner each night. I have PCOS/Lupus. They regulated my body within a week. They’re $2.38 at Walmart. Definitely worth it for my personal health issues. Immediately helped with digestion.

I had the orange cream flavor and hours later was having major anxiety poops. Like extreme. Never again lol

Matter of taste/preference obviously. I find normal sodas way too sweet, and I’ve liked all the all Ollipop flavors I’ve tried (which is about half of them).

Well, my husband bought a 12 pack online. We like root beer soda so he ordered root beer. A total of 5 people in my family tried it. Horrible taste. We threw it away and will not purchase again.
