Alani Nu Energy Drink Review
We bought every single flavor they sell at Target to try out for you guys. Before getting into the breakdown of all the flavors, we wanted to answer a few questions first. Like the amount of sugar in these drinks, as well as the nutrition facts.
Then, we’ll get into the good stuff: do they actually taste good?
If you’d rather watch our initial reactions to every flavor of these energy drinks, check out the video below! Some of our reactions to the flavors are a lot funnier in live-action, so if you want some extra entertainment value, the video is the way to go.

How much sugar is in an Alani Nu energy drink?
One of the great things about Alani Nu energy drinks is that they’re completely sugar-free. If you’re trying to cut down on sugar in your diet, these are an amazing option. Or if you just like the taste of sugar-free drinks!
They have 2g of sugar alcohol and the artificial sweetener, sucralose.
I used to have a hard time with anything containing sugar alcohols and would get really bad stomach aches. For example, every time I ate Halo Top I would have terrible stomach cramps for the rest of the night. So for the most part, I try to avoid those in my diet.
In my personal experience with these energy drinks, I didn’t have any stomach issues. I don’t know if it’s due to the amount of sugar alcohol or the other ingredients in the drinks, but they didn’t cause problems for me.
However, if you do have issues with sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners, these might not be the best option for you.
Are Alani Nu energy drinks healthy?
That depends on what your definition of “healthy” is – because it’s different for everyone.
Personally, I think these are a great healthy option to have in moderation.
They have no sugar, which is a big improvement over regular energy drinks. There are only 10 calories in the can and 5g of carbohydrates, making it a low-calorie, low-carb option. There are also B vitamins added in.
There is 200 mg of caffeine in a 12 oz can of Alani Nu. For some people who are sensitive to caffeine, this may be too much. You could always try drinking 1/2 a can at first and seeing how that works for you. But for me, 200mg is the perfect amount in an energy drink.
Overall, I would say these energy drinks are definitely a healthier option than a lot of their competitors. However, if you don’t like to include artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols in your diet, these aren’t the best option for you.
Quick Breakdown of All the Flavors
We go into more detail about all of the flavors in the video, so if you’re looking for a deeper breakdown, definitely watch that. But if you just want a quick description of our thoughts on each flavor, keep on reading!
- Blue Slush: Overwhelming and gross. I sadly lost the footage of this flavor in the video review, but it was really overpowering. It didn’t taste like a blue slushie to me and the Breezeberry flavor was 10x better if you want a blue raspberry option.
- Hawaiian Shaved Ice: Another flavor that was really overpowering. It tasted good but it would be better watered down a little bit. Tastes like strawberry and slightly like watermelon.
- Watermelon Wave: Pretty tasty but didn’t taste like watermelon at all. Honestly tasted a lot like Orange Crush. Also slightly overwhelming.
- Cosmic Stardust: I have no idea what this tastes like, but it was delicious. Someone online said it tasted like grape cotton candy and that’s the best way to describe it. Really good!
- Trippy Hippie: Pina colada flavored – pretty tasty! Doesn’t taste exactly like a pina colada, but you can definitely taste the pineapple. Not too much coconut flavor.
- Breezeberry: This is one of the best ones, by far. Tastes like blue raspberry and so much better than the blue slush. Mary even liked this one and she was pretty picky with the different flavors.
- Electric Tie-Dye: OMG. So good. Tastes like a cherry limeade from sonic. I loved it.
- Tropsicle: Ehh this was very okay. It tasted too intensely like pineapple for me, but if you’re really into pineapple, you’ll love it.
- Mimosa: This one’s tasty… Just don’t drink it after you brush your teeth because it tastes like orange juice.
