I’ve tried out quite a few protein bars in my day, and have been especially interested in finding a good vegan protein bar. Whey protein doesn’t sit well with me, so finding vegan options is essential. The only problem is that most vegan protein bars taste like shit. (…speaking of, have you read our Misfits review?) 😉 One of the best options I’ve found is the good! snacks vegan protein bars. I decided to test out a few of their flavors and give y’all a breakdown. If you’re in the market for a good vegan protein bar, I’d highly recommend giving these a try.
good! snacks Protein Bars Breakdown
Texture-wise, these vegan protein bars are a bit dryer than most whey protein bars. A little more crumbly as well. They’re not hard though, the texture is pretty good for a vegan bar.
Nutritionally: These do have 10g of sugar (9g added sugars) which compared to other protein bars is a bit higher. But they don’t have any sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners, which I love.
The sweetness level is on point too. Not too sweet, but enough to improve the flavor. They’re gluten-free and vegan. They have 15g of protein per bar. Also, 12g fiber, which is 43% of the typical daily value. Pretty impressive for one lil bar!
good! snacks Flavor Breakdown
Cookie Dough:
- This flavor is great. It actually tastes like cookie dough, which is impressive for a vegan protein bar. It tastes natural and doesn’t taste like artificial sweeteners. My only complaint is the slightly dry texture.
- Rating: 9/10
Lemon:
- I usually really like lemon-flavored things, but this one is a miss for me. The outer coating is really good (it’s the same white coating as the birthday cake or Snickerdoodle) but the lemon flavor itself is lacking. It just isn’t very flavorful at all and tastes more dried out than the other flavors. More like you’re chewing on cardboard, similar to other vegan protein bar brands.
- It feels like you have to keeps sipping water in between bites otherwise the dryness mixed with the lemon flavor just gets stuck in your throat.
- So far, this is my least favorite.
- Rating: 4/10
Blueberry:
- This flavor is surprisingly better than I expected! It is very blueberry flavored and tastes natural, not artificial fruit flavored. There are speckles of blueberry throughout the coating too, which adds to the flavor.
- I wouldn’t choose this flavor over the birthday cake or cookie dough, but if I was craving something fruity flavored (which doesn’t happen very often lol) I’d definitely pick this over the lemon.
- Overall: good flavor, very blueberry-y. Tastes like a blueberry cobbler or pie, in protein bar form. Sweet outer coating. Still fairly dry inside.
- Rating: 7/10
Birthday Cake:
- I basically feel the same way about the birthday cake as I do about the cookie dough. The flavor is delicious! It has a white chocolate (I think?) coating that’s sweet and yummy.
- It’s full of sprinkles and definitely the most aesthetic bar if that’s what you’re looking for.
- It tastes great, and I’m impressed with how much the flavor tastes like birthday cake for being a vegan protein bar. My only complaint, again, is the dryer texture.
- Rating: 9/10
Snickerdoodle:
- This flavor is way better than I expected! I love Snickerdoodles, but I didn’t expect a vegan protein bar to replicate the soft & chewy, cinnamon-sugary flavors. But this one does it pretty dang well.
- It still has the same bit of dryness as the other flavors, but overall it’s cinnamony sweet, and the sweet outer coating tastes amazing. The outer coating looks like a thin layer of white chocolate, but I’m not sure if that’s what it is tbh.
- Overall, it’s really tasty. If you’re a big cinnamon sugar fan you’ll love it. My personal flavor preference typically leans towards a chocolate or birthday cake flavor, so this wasn’t my absolute fave. But it’s really yummy and I’d definitely choose it after a workout or as a snack throughout the day.
- Rating: 8/10
Peanut Butter:
- I remember trying this one a while back and not loving it, so I kept putting it off for last. But oddly enough, I ended up really liking this one this time!
- The peanut butter flavor is subtle, but it definitely tastes like a protein bar version of a Reese’s (just not as good, obviously, because you can’t beat an actual Reese’s cup…) 😉
- It has a thin layer of milk chocolate coating and is overall really tasty! Not too sweet at all, but has a good balance of salty peanut butter taste and sweet chocolate.
- Not quite as good (in my opinion) as the cookie dough or birthday flavors, but still yummy. Still a little dry and crumbly, like the rest.
- Rating: 8/10
Overall, good! snacks is…
A great option if you’re looking for a solid vegan protein bar. These are the tastiest flavors and the best texture I’ve found (by far) for vegan protein bars. I still prefer the texture of Built Bars (which are not vegan), but when I want a vegan option, these are absolutely the best choice.
If you want to try out the good! snacks bars, I’d recommend getting the variety pack, so you can see which flavors are your favs before buying the full pack!
