After a no spend month, I decided to take my minimalism *attempt* a step further, and do a 30-Day Declutter! For the next month, I’ll do one thing to declutter my apartment every day. Whether that be getting rid of old clothes, tidying up our pantry, or even doing a digital declutter (unsubscribing from emails, etc.) If you want to do this declutter challenge with me, you’ll be feeling light, airy, and free after this spring cleaning. Let’s do this!

The 30-Day Declutter Challenge
I’ll break this challenge down into 5 different areas of the house. Each section will have 6 days dedicated to it. So by the end of this, your whole home will be decluttered (along with a digital declutter!)
*Obviously, it’s easier to clean a 2 bedroom apartment than a two-story home, for example, so modify this declutter challenge to fit your needs.
Here are the 5 areas we’ll declutter this coming month:
- The Bedroom (closet included)
- The Living Room
- The Kitchen
- The Bathroom
- Your Digital Space (phone, computer, etc.)
Feel free to add on any other areas in your home that need a little extra attention. Maybe your home office, your basement, or your laundry room.
We live in a 2-bedroom apartment, so this list covers our space perfectly.
I decided to add on the digital declutter as well because it’s equally (if not more) important to freeing up space in your life. We’re on our phones and computers 24/7, so decluttering that space is so valuable for your mental health.
Personally, having my digital spaces decluttered allows me to focus 1000x easier. It also helps prevent me from getting burnt out or overwhelmed as easily.
I hope this 30-day declutter challenge helps y’all and you enjoy it along the way. Let’s get decluttering!

Declutter Challenge Part #1: The Bedroom
Day 1: Donate 5+ clothing items you haven’t worn in the past year
Day 2: Organize your sock/underwear drawer
day 3: Clean out the area under your bed
day 4: organize your dresser
I have these drawer dividers for our dresser that make a world of difference. They make it so much easier to keep your clothese separated into sections and organized, to easily find what you’re looking for.
day 5: declutter surfaces
If you’re anything like me, random things seem to accumulate on your dresser, nightstand, bookshelf, etc. I don’t know where these things come from (or why they can’t find a home) – but it’s time to take control of these random disorganized items.
day 6: dust & disinfect everything you can

Declutter Challenge Part #2: The Living Room
day 7: Remove 5+ things from your storage cubes
After buying cloth storage cubes, everything felt so organized. But realistically, I have no idea what’s in them and am scared to dig through them. Every random little thing that I don’t know where to put ends up in a storage cube. With absolutely no organization.
If you have storage cubes, get rid of 5 things you no longer use. (Or find a better place for them, if you can’t get rid of them). If you don’t have storage cubes, I’m sure you have something similar, so get creative. 😉
day 8: clean your couch & other furniture
day 9: put away any books, notebooks, etc. you have lying around
day 10: clean up your junk corner
This one might be specific to us, but in the corner we keep our blankets, etc., a bunch of other random shit also ends up there constantly.
I’m sure you have an area of your living room that tends to collect junk, so go through it and find a home for everything that doesn’t need to be there.
day 11: if you still have last season’s decor up, put it away
If you’re a decluttering queen and already did this, you get a day off.
day 12: dust & disinfect all surfaces

Declutter Challenge Part #3: The Kitchen
day 13: discard any expired items from your fridge/pantry
day 14: Donate any old dishes/cups you no longer use
day 15: organize your junk drawer
day 16: clean the sink and oven
day 17: clean your dishwasher (inside & out)
day 18: disinfect all surfaces

Declutter Challenge Part #4: The Bathroom
day 19: Get rid of any makeup items you don’t use
day 20: discard any other personal care items you don’t use
This includes hair care, skin care, nails, etc. If you have unopened items (gifts, etc.) that you never realistically plan on opening and using, donate them.
day 21: organize your cabinets/drawers
day 22: clean the tub
day 23: clean the sink/toilet
day 24: dust and disinfect any other surfaces

Declutter Challenge Part #5: Your Digital Space
day 25: unsubscribe from 5+ promotional emails
day 26: get rid of any apps you haven’t used in the past 6 months
day 27: unfollow 5+ people on social media that don’t bring you joy
Comparison is called the thief of joy for a reason, and social media is one of the easiest places to compare yourself to others.
If you follow people that don’t bring you happiness, unfollow them. There’s no need for that negativity in your life.
day 28: organize your home screen
day 29: organize your computer files into folders
day 30: clear out your downloads folder & trash

Bonus Points!
If any of the above tasks don’t work in your home (ex: you don’t have a junk drawer to organize on Day 15) – here are a few substitutes!
Or if you just can’t get enough decluttering after the 30-day declutter challenge, you’re welcome to do these too. 😉
- Clean your car (outside & inside)
- Declutter your mind (meditate or journal)
- Color code your planner or digital calendar
- Organize your bookshelves
- Sort your closet how you see fit (by color, season, type of clothes, etc.)
- Vacuum & clean up any miscellaneous items on the floor
- Clean out your purse/backpack
