Mary &amp; I thought we&#8217;d try it out to see if it&#8217;s worth the hype. We bought the leggings, crop tops, and shorts, to do a try-on haul and share our honest thoughts. We&#8217;d love to see your face pop up in our comments in the future!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Color, Compression &amp; Texture <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Color<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The colors are gorgeous. However, I wouldn&#8217;t say they really match the colors&#8217; names on the website. The leggings Mary had on in the video are &#8220;purple&#8221; on the website but are really more of a pinkish color. The set I had on is &#8220;blue&#8221; on the website but I&#8217;d say is more of a periwinkle blue. The only one that fully matched the color was the black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Compression<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These had a little too much compression for my taste. They&#8217;re verrrryyyyy tight in the thighs and really squeeze you in (in all the wrong places, in my opinion.) However, if you like a legging\/short with a lot of compression and a tighter thigh area, these are ideal for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Texture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The texture is a little bumpy. Everywhere there&#8217;s a pattern, it protrudes out a bit. The shorts &amp; leggings are definitely not buttery soft, so if you&#8217;re looking for a buttery soft feel, look elsewhere. (I&#8217;d recommend the AYBL core collection, which I reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/WGfFIgc0BX4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They&#8217;re fairly thick and squat proof (even the lighter colors.) Great for leg day or heavy lifting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gymshark Mercury Shorts &amp; Leggings <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The leggings fit Mary really well and she liked them more than the shorts. Our main issue with the shorts was the tight fit in the thigh area. They&#8217;re <em>incredibly<\/em> tight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The waistline was a little loose on me, which is an issue I run into often with activewear. I have bigger thighs in comparison to my waist, so it&#8217;s hard to find bottoms that fit my waist while still leaving enough breathing room for my thighs\/butt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gymshark has done really well with making shorts &amp; leggings that fit my body type in the past (see our <a href=\"https:\/\/vitality-vixens.com\/index.php\/2021\/06\/05\/gymshark-camo-ombre-review-shorts-leggings-and-more\/\">Adapt<\/a> review.) But these missed the mark for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When wearing the shorts, I&#8217;ll typically roll down the fabric in the waist by about a half-inch. This brings the waist fabric in slightly and makes the fit better. But I typically try to avoid that if I can, because it makes the shorts too low rise in the back, for my taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the shorts &amp; leggings are really cute. Not the most comfortable in Gymshark history, but they have a ton of compression. If you have thinner thighs, they will probably fit you better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gymshark Mercury Crop Top <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought the crop top was really cute, besides a weird gap at the top (you can see it really well in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCrlSDrWjAjhM8AV1RGG3oBw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a>.) It&#8217;s probably because I have small boobs and wasn&#8217;t filling out the medium crop top enough. But unfortunately, it&#8217;s been hard to find my size in Gymshark tops &amp; sports bras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I typically buy smalls in tops and sports bras, but Gymshark&#8217;s bras are really tight on my shoulders\/back area, so I&#8217;ve been sizing up to mediums lately. Apparently, that wasn&#8217;t the right move for me when it comes to crop tops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crop tops fit Mary really well, so I ended up giving her mine. It all comes down to different body types. I can&#8217;t say that there&#8217;s anything wrong with the fit of these, they just weren&#8217;t for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, they&#8217;re really cute crop tops and pretty supportive, even without having a built-in sports bra. You can go with or without a sports bra, in my opinion. But obviously, opt for the sports bra underneath if you want a little more support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mercury vs. Adapt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personally, I would choose the <a href=\"https:\/\/vitality-vixens.com\/index.php\/2021\/06\/05\/gymshark-camo-ombre-review-shorts-leggings-and-more\/\">Adapt<\/a> collection 100% of the time over Mercury. It&#8217;s more comfortable with a stretchier material (but still good compression.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fit is also much better on my body type. As you can see in the video, the Mercury collection had a bit of a waist gap that is not present in the Adapt shorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fit of the Mercury collection in the thigh region is <em>much<\/em> tighter. If you have slimmer legs, you may like the fit of the Mercury collection better. But for my thicker thighs, the Adapt bottoms are the better choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gymshark Mercury Collection Review: Final Thoughts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, I wouldn&#8217;t personally choose to buy anything from this collection again. I kept the shorts (only because I already cut off the tags before doing the review, so I couldn&#8217;t return them&#8230;) But I gave the top to Mary because the fit (on me) was not great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mary returned her pair of shorts because she didn&#8217;t like the fit. But the crop top and leggings fit her really well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, this is not my favorite collection from Gymshark by any means. I would buy their Adapt pieces any day over these.
